Just for the fun of it....

I found these old pictures from when I was in the Miss Carbon County Pageant, 1981. Yes, 1981. I thought this might inspire me to get my body back, and I want it back bad...I don't think it will happen, though I will try to get close. This was before husband and kids. I was a senior in High School, as old as my youngest child now. hahahahahahahahahahaha.
This was the dance outfit for the group dance, opening number.
I did a dance for my talent, I danced to Xanadu by Olivia Newton John.
This was my dance costume. My dance teacher Mrs. Charlotte Young helped me choreograph my dance.

This was my evening gown. Here I am holding my trophy and bouquet of roses. I was crowned 2nd runner up. Here I am in my swim suit, still holding my trophy and roses. The store I worked for, Smith's Food and Drug King were my sponsors.
This was us in the opening number. I am on the right in the back.
Here are the 5 runner ups, I am second from the left. I could not believe I made it that far. I actually just tried out with my friend Dalina (girl on the right in the background) because she didn't want to try out alone. So I just did it for fun and had the time of my life.
Who would have guessed I would have made 2nd runner up. My family was all there and I remember my brother crying, he was so excited. I had a great year after that. I did alot of parades all over the state and got two scholorships for college. Oh the good old days.

YES...YES...YES...

I did my weigh in...yes!!!!!!!!!!! I lost 2 pounds. I was so excited, I did not expect that at all, with the milk shake, donuts and yummies I had the last two weeks I thought I was in real trouble. So I am hoping it doesn't catch up with me next week. Pete also weighed in, he is so funny, he was worried and said "I feel all bloated like I am on my period or something". I just cracked up laughing, he is soooo funny. He lost 2 pounds too. Yea Pete!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went to breakfast this morning and talked, we rejuvinated ourselves to stay healthy and eat good while we are on vacation. The thing we need to work on the most is EXERCISE. So when we get home from vacation we will be working on that a little better. Also while we are on vacation we might go hiking and look for some big sticks so my dad can make some walking sticks. Dad can't hike for his own anymore, so we will do it for him. It gives him something to do in all his spare time.

Inspiration...

My mom!!!!

I feel all motivated then I get discouraged and feel like it takes to much to get where I want to be on the scale. I hit a wall and stay within 3 to 5 pounds and feel like I am not making any progress. It sounds easy in my head, but when it comes down to it I just kinda give up. Yesterday Matt and I went to the store to get some milk and eggs, we walked by Krispy Kreme donuts. Do you think I could just keep walking...NO...I had to buy them.
So........I tried to think of what would help me. My wonderful mother came to my mind. She struggled with her weight her whole married life. I remember her going to Tops all the time when I was growing up. Also trying all kinds of fad diets and such.

Anyway, I remember her strength and how she never gave up. She fought a hard fight with diabetes and neuropathy. Her poor feet had sores that would never heal and she finally lost her right leg just under the knee. She still never gave up, she had a positive attitude and worked so hard to get her artificial leg. She finally made it, she was better, had her leg and was walking on it. She was able to get her drivers license renewed and was able to drive. I admire her courage and positive attitude. I love you mom!!!! I will do this for you as I know you would want the best for me and my family. Okay girls we are doing this not only for ourselves and familes, we are doing it for Black Grandma. She is with us and will encourage us, know she is cheering us on.

To my diet buddies: I love you, you can do it, never give up!!!

Not doing it...

Okay, I am not weighing in today. I have not eaten like I have this week in a long time. Jen and Layla are here and we have eaten out alot and we went to the Giant game, so of course I had a hot dog and garlic fries, oh and cotton candy. yummy! But Bad!!!! So I decided I am not weighing in. I will work out really hard this week, in fact Jenna is going to do the stairs with me at least once before she goes home so it looks like we will be doing the stairs at Kaiser tomorrow. I would like to lose 5 to 10 pounds before I go to Utah this summer, we leave July 17th so lets set a goal to be between 155 to 149. I like the last number best but we will see.
I want my flat tummy back!!!
10 FOODS FOR A FLATTER TUMMY
1. Extra virgin olive oil may reduce belly fat.
2. Food rich in omega-3 fatty acids, like almonds, walnuts and salmon, reduce the stress hormone cortisol, which contributes to ab flab.
3. Drinking green tea "reduces water retention".
4. Nonfat yogurt helps debloat. It contains bacteria that keeps the digestive system working.
5. Fiber like whole grains keeps you full.
6. Bananas contain potassium, which gets rid of water-retaining sodium.
7. Strawberries and raspberries contain ellagic acid that improves the ability to burn fat.
8. Ginger reduces gas and calms and upset stomach.
9. Artichokes are great for digestion.
10. Proteins such as grilled chicken and egg whites keep you satiated.
My tips...When I don't get a lot of vegetables in I have a V8 and some low fat string cheese as a snack. Most important, drink lots of water!! At night I try not to snack but if I do I have sugar free popcicles or a single pack of fat free butter popcorn.
